Drain Cleaning has come a long way. Drain Snakes or Drain Augers ( That steel cable that plumbers put down your drain ) was at one time the only option to clear a clog. There reliable, Take almost no maintenance, and are great at punching a hole in your drain or pushing your clog along till the water takes in down the drain.

   Several years ago someone came up with something called a pressure washer. This machine changed the cleaning industry forever. Later
someone realized if you take the bigger, stronger size pressure washers and added a pulsing action to vibrate the hose. These machines can be pushed down drains to clear clogs. As great as that was the first nozzles were very basic and only mirrored what the already used augers were doing in drains.Later someone added 4 more jets to the nozzle. Instead of just one going forward there would be 3 to 4 more angled at the back. This did something a auger never did. It helped to push the nozzle and hose farther down the drain then just the standard 100 feet which is the longest a auger can go. On top of that, since these jets were angled at the walls, They could clean the walls at the same time. 

   Now you had, Not only a machine that can clean the walls of a drain along with clearing the clog. A new addition to drain cleaning was added, Length. Since the hoses are so easy to connect to each other and the reel can be any size you want. Drain Jetter:  Trucks, Vans and Trailers were rolling up with the ability to go threw the drain as far as needed. Two hundred feet, Three hundred feet, Four hundred feet…

   Even though this, in it self was amazing, The nozzles were in there infancy. The clogs had to be basic and easy to clean. That was then, This is Now. Todays nozzles can cut threw a piece of wood. If you don’t believe me, check You Tube. For that to happen they had to improve on the forward jet. The new nozzles spin and rotate which take cleaning a drain to a whole new level.  

   Tree roots are no longer a problem. Back in the day plumbers would always tell you they had to dig up your yard and replace your drain if a tree root was in it, I can get threw any tree root. Food establishments with Floor Drains and grease build up were a problem . Not anymore I can go threw Ptraps and grease clogs with no problem. Another important advancement That came along were Sewer Cameras. The next thing  was to give them the ability to take pictures and video. Then last but not least was a Sonde. This is a locator that can find were your camera is going, thus showing were the drain pipe is going. 

   The camera is really useful in cleaning those corrugated yard drains. They seem to have no rhyme or reason why they take the path they do. Its super hard to clean them if you don’t know where there coming out so that you can work both ends.
